Hepburn Congratulates North Lanarkshire Council on Success at Scottish Social Services Council Award

Agu 11, 2009

Jamie Hepburn, MSP for Central Scotland, has congratulated North Lanarkshire Council on its recent success at the Scottish Social Services Council Awards.

North Lanarkshire Council were the recipients of the prestigious Best ‘Leading on Learning Programme’ 2009, for their ‘Assessment, Planning and Reflective Practice’ Programme.  The programme was picked for this impressive award due to the fact that it allows both those who are working within the social services and recipients of the services, to have a more modern and effective outcomes based approach as opposed to a more traditional service-led provision.

The Scottish Social Service Council believed that this is an innovative approach from North Lanarkshire Council, which will allow their staff to work in a more creative manner. With the use of a clear framework for staff to work around, North Lanarkshire’s programme has allowed social services staff to bring their strength’s and specialist experience to the fore, which in turn will create a more efficient and contemporary social services workforce.

Mr Hepburn commented:

“I am extremely pleased for all within the social services department for achieving this high accolade.  I have written to he Council to pass on my fullest congratulations for this achievement.

“This award for Best ‘Leading on Learning’ Programme is not only a great success for all at North Lanarkshire Council, it is great news for the people of North Lanarkshire as they will benefit further from the finest service of its kind provided in Scotland.”
