Hepburn’s Parliamentary Support for Cumbernauld Town Centre Competition
Friday, 22 January 2010

Jamie Hepburn, SNP MSP for Central Scotland, has added his support to an initiative by Cumbernauld Town Centre which has seen German college students produce exciting conceptual ideas for the future development of the town [1].

Jamie has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament, welcoming the display of the designs currently featured in the Town Centre and encouraging members of the public to take part in the vote for their favourite design.  The Town Centre management expect the display to run until at least 29th January, with a possible extension due to the popularity of the competition.

Commenting, Jamie Hepburn MSP said:

“The competition and designs appear to have captured the imagination of people across Cumbernauld, and I was happy to lodge a motion in Parliament recognising the enthusiasm and interest they have caused.

“I’m looking forward to seeing which of the five shortlisted designs emerges as the people’s choice, and I hope in some way this kind of creative thinking will help to shape the future development of our town.

“The Town Centre management, and their partners in the local press, are to be congratulated on taking forward this initiative, as indeed are the students from Germany who have devoted so much energy to their designs”
