Jamie Hepburn, SNP MSP for Central Scotland, has launched a survey of residents in Kilsyth and North Cumbernauld to determine local opinion on a range of local ‘hot topics’. Jamie’s survey, which has been sent to every household in the two areas, seeks to gather views of local residents on the provision of car parking at Croy station, litter and anti-social behaviour, and the state of local town centres. Kilsyth residents are also being asked for their opinion on a Campsie Fells Regional Park, with Cumbernauld North residents also asked about proposals for Cumbernauld Community Park near Carrickstone and Balloch. Both surveys also ask for opinions on local school provision, following a recent round of school closures by North Lanarkshire Council. Commenting, Jamie Hepburn MSP said: “In recent months, increasing numbers of people in both Kilsyth and north Cumbernauld have been contacting me with concerns about the level and state of amenities and services in the areas, and I felt this survey was a good way to get some more substantial evidence about what was really important to local residents. “I’ll be using the information to press the case for better investment in the areas by North Lanarkshire Council, and to take forward some important campaigns such as making sure the new car park at Croy station is free to use, and better facilities such as a bus station in Cumbernauld Town Centre. “I also hope the survey will send a clear message that local residents will not tolerate further school closures in the area by North Lanarkshire Council. “In just a week there’s been a great response to the survey, and I would encourage householders who have not yet had a chance to respond to do so as soon as they have the chance.” |
